22 February 2009

Sunday - February 22nd. It's a beautiful morning in Colorado, the sky is blue, the sun is just coming up, and it is a whopping 19 degrees.
The story that I am going to tell you is one of the reason's it is important to keep in touch with your family. We are not all the same, or do we want to be, but we should be here to help and to listen to each other. This has been an eye opening week. I am sure most of you know that I grew up in a foster home and I have been part of their family since I was 13 years old. I have a foster sister, her name is Chris, she lived in Washington, is 72 years old, and has Lou Garrett's disease. This disease kills you from the inside out. It is really hard to watch someone that weighed 240 a year and half ago enjoying her family, crafts, and sewing to weighing 104 lbs., can't talk, and maybe will live another 6 months if we are lucky. She is now living in a nursing home in Sterling away from the family that she has known for the last 30 years. Her living so far away and having her other family you don't think about taking time to go visit, call on the phone, or just emailing until something like this happens. I can't and I know you can't just jump on a plane and go visit everyone you want but we can stay in touch monthly, quarterly, or yearly with email, this wonderful blog, or calling on the phone.
On a brighter note, I met up with Dawn yesterday in Denver and we went shopping for wedding stuff. It was really fun picking out flowers, since one was going to be mine :), then we were directed to a bakery that makes great cakes, sure smelled wonderful (I am trying to loose 10 lbs. before the wedding you know) and the first book we looked in there was the perfect cake. I will keep you up on all the wedding updates. I'm sure by the time April 18th gets here I will have made her crazy, which I feel as a mom is my job.
Have a great week and talk to you soon. Love You!

08 February 2009

It is nice to see that we are getting some more blogs to read. We were suppose to get snow today but NO it didn't snow and we really need the moisture.

We are planning a couple trips this spring - one to Tucson the end of March to see Mike's sister and family. It is always a nice time to go because it isn't to hot yet. The heat kills me. We would like to come to Seattle the first of May, should be a nice time, right? I talked to Mary and they have plans of living on a boat that they just bought - really need to come and see that one.

We are getting ready for Dawn's wedding in April. It will be small but we are planning a wedding reception for family and friends sometime this summer in our back yard. I will let everyone know when so you can plan your vacation. :)

Have a great week and keep the blogs coming. Love to all.
