22 March 2009

Hi,
It is March now and no one but me is blogging. Lets try to reconnect and start talking about our families and what is going on.

22 February 2009

Sunday - February 22nd. It's a beautiful morning in Colorado, the sky is blue, the sun is just coming up, and it is a whopping 19 degrees.
The story that I am going to tell you is one of the reason's it is important to keep in touch with your family. We are not all the same, or do we want to be, but we should be here to help and to listen to each other. This has been an eye opening week. I am sure most of you know that I grew up in a foster home and I have been part of their family since I was 13 years old. I have a foster sister, her name is Chris, she lived in Washington, is 72 years old, and has Lou Garrett's disease. This disease kills you from the inside out. It is really hard to watch someone that weighed 240 a year and half ago enjoying her family, crafts, and sewing to weighing 104 lbs., can't talk, and maybe will live another 6 months if we are lucky. She is now living in a nursing home in Sterling away from the family that she has known for the last 30 years. Her living so far away and having her other family you don't think about taking time to go visit, call on the phone, or just emailing until something like this happens. I can't and I know you can't just jump on a plane and go visit everyone you want but we can stay in touch monthly, quarterly, or yearly with email, this wonderful blog, or calling on the phone.
On a brighter note, I met up with Dawn yesterday in Denver and we went shopping for wedding stuff. It was really fun picking out flowers, since one was going to be mine :), then we were directed to a bakery that makes great cakes, sure smelled wonderful (I am trying to loose 10 lbs. before the wedding you know) and the first book we looked in there was the perfect cake. I will keep you up on all the wedding updates. I'm sure by the time April 18th gets here I will have made her crazy, which I feel as a mom is my job.
Have a great week and talk to you soon. Love You!

08 February 2009

It is nice to see that we are getting some more blogs to read. We were suppose to get snow today but NO it didn't snow and we really need the moisture.

We are planning a couple trips this spring - one to Tucson the end of March to see Mike's sister and family. It is always a nice time to go because it isn't to hot yet. The heat kills me. We would like to come to Seattle the first of May, should be a nice time, right? I talked to Mary and they have plans of living on a boat that they just bought - really need to come and see that one.

We are getting ready for Dawn's wedding in April. It will be small but we are planning a wedding reception for family and friends sometime this summer in our back yard. I will let everyone know when so you can plan your vacation. :)

Have a great week and keep the blogs coming. Love to all.

I tried adding a coment to Dawn and Todd's Post but for some reason it wouldnt let me.
I just wanted to say that I enloy watching LOST too. i have been watching it from the very first episode. Mike hasnt watched it as much as me so when he does watch it with me he gets a little LOST! but it is cool that they play last weeks episode before the new one and they have on the bottom of the screen the reasons why everything is happening the way it is........................I am a reality show junkie, I watch the Bachelor, the biggest loser, Bad Girls Club and I also enjoy wathching desperate housewives and CSI. I think I probably watch entirely too much T.V

Todd and Dawn Update

Hello Family!

Life is good here in Aurora, Colorado. Todd and I got engaged the Sunday after Thanksgiving and are planning a small wedding in April followed by a honeymoon to Scotland! We are very excited and happy!

I am still working at Lockheed Martin (5 years) as a Software Engineer and have been moving into a management role over the last 2 years. I enjoy it although it can be stressful some days. I plan on staying at this job for the next couple of years. I have also been working on a Masters degree for a little while now and am currently evaluating if I want to continue this area (computer science/systems engineering) or something else (MBA?, other?).

Todd is working in Construction for Colorado Construction Company and has been staying pretty busy in spite of the economy. He likes it although it is not his dream job. He would love to make a living with art and will likely pursue that in a couple of years. He does paint and draw in his spare time and he is extremely talented. It is fun to watch him do his thing!

We have 3 cats right now. They have been with me for a while and they have accepted Todd into the family in spite of being kicked out of the bedroom!

Our favorite shows right now are: Lost, 24, American Idol and Damaged.

We both want the Arizona Cardinals to win the Superbowl - mostly because Kurt Warner is such a great guy!

I guess that is all for now. Take care everybody!
Love - Dawn

21 January 2009

Hi everyone. It's already January 21, where does the time go? I am working on year end w-2's, 1099's, year end payroll reports, etc. Doesn't this sound exciting. It is time to start processing tax returns - what a life I have. Between doing taxes and the real estate it's a good thing that I own a day spa to help me relax after all the stress. :)

We have been having great weather, in the 70's the last few days, but it will turn cold and maybe some snow by Sunday. Living in Colorado is great because the sun shines 98% of the time which makes it seem so much warmer.

I have been ready the blogs and it looks like we have a well rounded family. I just need to get a few more family members on board, including my children.

Have a great week and let me know if you are having as much fun as I am.

Love, Dorothy

Hello All

Hello everyone :) I have been meaning to post something for awhile now but its just like everything else in my life.. i always mean to do it but never get around to it. Like Bobbie said it does feel a little weird writing about your life but I really do think this is a great idea and a perfect way for all of us to keep in touch. I Have 4 children, My oldest is Cecilia she is 13 but will be 14 in March... OMG i have no idea where the time went. Cecilia is currently in gymnastics and really seems to be enjoying it. C.J is 8 and she is my little tom boy! She enjoys playing soccer and hanging out with her friends. Michael is 3 but will be turning 4 in February. He is definatley a boy and he is into sports, skateboarding and hunting. Mariah is my baby and she is 11 months but will be turning 1 on January 28th. She is the sweetest little girl. She is our last.. no more babies for us! Oh and how could I forget My HONEY!! MIKE he is a great dad, great step dad and just an all around great guy.. took me long enough but I finally found him!
I work as program manager at the Child Development Center on Mike's and my 2 youngest childrens reservation. I have been there for 6 years and I have been in the Early Child Development field for 9 years now and I absolutely love it. Mike works for the Tribe as well in the Public Works Department. We will be having Mariahs birthday soon so hopefully I will be able to figure out how to post the pictures. I tried posting a picture of me from my computer at work and I looked funny like my eyes were crossed. Lol. Talk to you all soon........

11 January 2009

Hi,
I want to know how to get rid of the butterflies on the viewing page? Is there an easier way to get back and forth when you are in the dashboard?

I'm doing open houses most weekends so I have time to be annoying to the family. I am going to Washington on the 22nd of January to bring back my foster sister to Wyoming to live. She has been having some family and medical problems and the only way we can help is if we move her closer. I'm hoping Debbie and Mary can drive to Connell to see me.

Have a great week and I will write more when I have time. Love you all. Dorothy

06 January 2009

It seems a little silly to be typing about your life, sort of like the X-mas card letters. I have a husband, Jim and two children - Madison (9, almost 10) and Mia (7) and a black lab named Remi. We live in a suburb of Albany, NY. Jim is an electrical engineer for ASML and I am an insurance underwriter for AIG, yes the AIG that you all bailed out. It really is not as bad as it seems, the government will make millions, if not billions of dollars on the deal they have with AIG.

I honestly cannot think of anything exciting to write about. The only thing that comes to mind that any of you would care about is that we were lucky enough to see 2 of Scott's children play hockey in our area recently. We watched Ryan play in 2 games for his college hockey team and we watched Jacqueline in a high school practice for a tournament just last week. I was having a hard time with both of them being so old, but I am guessing Scott was having an even more difficult time seeing Dorothy's grandchildren at their age.

05 January 2009

Dorothy call me on Jan. 2nd  whated to get my email, dort whated to have the family stay in touch with each other. so we came up with a King Family Blog. my daughter-in law Amanda help us start this.

Micheal 2/6/2005.
Robert has 2 children Elizabeth 11/18/2002 ,Richelle 1/18/2005

John my husband has 2 children Richard and Tami. Richard has 2 children Jaden 4/9/2004 , Riley 8/22/2006. Tami has 1 child Kailey 3/18/2002.

Been busy with all 9 grand baby this year. Been a year of uncertainty the housing market stoped here and John had to fine a Job working with the City of Seattle . The commercial building is still strong here so I have a job. but alot of people have lost there jobs. The family is healthy what more can you ask for. Brought the New Years in with my kids. We played uno ,then headed home, had 2 1/2 feet of snow at oour house between Christmas and know. That was alot for here.

04 January 2009

Hi family,

My news years resolution is to keep in contact with the family more than once a year. I talked to Debbie and her daughter-in-law set us up. Yea for the computer nerds in our family, yes we have a few. Please take the time at least once a month to let us know how and what your family is doing.

Not a lot changes for me - I still live in Berthoud but have a new address. 602 S. 9th Street. Renaze Salon & Day Spa is holding its own. The economy is affecting us a little - people that use to come in for a hair cut every 6 weeks now come 7 or 8 weeks. The real estate market is better in Colorado that some states and living by Fort Collins hasn't hurt, the best place to live. I have quite a few listings but having a hard time selling them right now because of the mortgage crisis and the foreclosures.

Bobbie, Jim, Madison, and Mia live in New York but I will let them tell you what is going on with their family. The same for Dawn.
